Howard Frederick
We're back in Tucson after living a few different
places. Worked one year in the Middle East
(1968), then in California and Washington DC. We
moved to Australia in the 80's and lived there for 8
years. Returned to Tucson in 1991, sort of
permantly, i think, although we travel a fair bit
internationally (our older son lives in Tanzania).
FAMILY:
Married Pat Frailey (Salpointe '60). She is a
veterinarian, terrific artist and great friend. We have
2 sons, one living in East Africa, the other here in
Tucson. Neither seems to be contemplating
marriage, so no grandchildren in the offing.
EDUCATION AND CAREER:
Doctorate in comparative nutrition from the UA.
Early years spent working in research and
education for various livestock related industries.
Since returning from Australia, I consult primarily to
the zoo and wildlife communities working with
endangered species. Adjunct professor at the
University.
AVOCATIONS:
Still do some running (nothing like cross country
days at CHS though). I'm learning to play the piano
and enjoy cooking.
We are part owners of the ghost town, Ruby, in
Santa Cruz County. It is in a permanent state of
needing restoration and we spend a lot of quality
time down there. Great hiking, bird watching,
fishing, etc.
